5 Instagrammable Spots in Amalfi Coast, Italy
🇮🇹 Amalfi Coast, Italy · Photography Guide · 5 min read · February 2026
Pastel-colored cliffside villages, terraced lemon groves, and impossibly blue Mediterranean water — the Amalfi Coast is Italy at its most dramatic and most photogenic.
Positano Viewpoint (Via Positanesi d'America) — Village Panorama ★★★★★
The postcard view of Positano: cascading pink, white, and terracotta buildings tumbling down the cliff to the pebbly beach, with the blue-domed Church of Santa Maria Assunta at the center. This view needs no editing.
Insta tip: Shoot from the SP245 coastal road viewpoint above the village — Google Maps: 'Positano Panorama'. Telephoto (85-135mm) compresses the village beautifully. Golden hour from the north gives warm-toned light.
Best time: Golden hour, 1 hour before sunset
Ravello's Villa Cimbrone Gardens — Garden & Vista ★★★★★
The 'Terrace of Infinity' at 350m above sea level offers perhaps the most dramatic view on the entire Amalfi Coast. Classical marble busts line the balustrade overlooking an endless expanse of blue sea.
Insta tip: Shoot looking along the terrace to use the marble busts as foreground elements. The 'infinity pool' visual effect works from the far left end. Morning has the best light and near-empty gardens.
Best time: 9–11 AM on clear days
Atrani's Hidden Beach Alley — Hidden Village ★★★★☆
While Positano gets all the tourists, tiny Atrani — just 300 meters east and connected by a footpath — is Amalfi's last truly authentic fishing village. Its curved piazza opening directly to the beach is surreally beautiful.
Insta tip: The vaulted archway leading to the beach is a perfect natural frame. Long exposure at dusk creates silky water against the warm-lit buildings. Virtually no tourists for clean shots.
Best time: Dusk to blue hour
Amalfi Town Cathedral Steps — Architectural Beauty ★★★★☆
The 9th-century Cathedral of Saint Andrew towers over Amalfi's medieval piazza at the top of 62 dramatic steps. The Arab-Norman-Byzantine architecture with its golden mosaic facade is extraordinarily photogenic.
Insta tip: Shoot from the bottom of the steps looking up — the geometric steps as leading lines toward the ornate facade. Use a wide-angle. Early morning for zero crowds. Black & white gives a timeless feel.
Best time: 8–10 AM
Path of the Gods (Sentiero degli Dei) — Hiking Trail ★★★★★
The ancient 7.8 km clifftop trail from Agerola to Positano follows a path ancient gods supposedly walked — and you'll understand why. Unobstructed views of the entire Amalfi Coast from 600 meters altitude.
Insta tip: Walk east-to-west (Agerola→Positano) to have the light behind you in the morning. Every 50 steps offers a new composition. Bring a tripod for tack-sharp landscape shots.
Best time: Morning hike, starting 7 AM
